Bamboo has been widely used in Chinese gardens as one of the most popular plant elements for thousands of years because of multiple and abundant reasons. To ancient Chinese scholars, bamboos were their spiritual friends and indispensable to their gardens. The plant arrangement example of “phoenix trees in the front, bamboos at the back” is a classic combination in ancient Chinese courtyards which reflects the oriental design connotation. Whereas in Britain, landscape gardeners show more scientific interests in bamboos and plant them in gardens mainly for their evergreen appearance and exotic ambience.

Guangzhou embroidery, an intangible cultural property of China, is distinguished by its pattern drawings that showcase a harmonious amalgamation of Eastern and Western influences within the Lingnan region. Currently, the embroidery business is facing a shortage of staff, resulting in a deficiency in cultural distribution among young individuals and a dearth of innovative approaches in drawing design. This study aims to assess the viability of integrating AI painting into Guangzhou embroidery. To achieve this, a functional model of Guangzhou embroidery AI painting design is developed, comprising four distinct stages: (1) conducting field research and reviewing relevant literature to generate a project; (2) implementing AI painting in five key areas, namely Theme, Color, Style, Composition, and Atmosphere; and (3) soliciting feedback from a group of young Guangzhou embroidery practitioners to evaluate the outputs of the model. The present study aims to evaluate the latent component structure, structural validity, and internal consistency of the assessment tool. The findings indicate that the AI-generated drawings, as per the model, demonstrate strong reliability and validity across the five dimensions assessed in the evaluation questionnaire: Regional feature preference, Understanding, Innovativeness, Artistry, and Consumer Willingness. Furthermore, these drawings are well-received by the youth demographic, with regional characteristics exhibiting the strongest association with preference.Artificial intelligence-generated designs have proven to be well-suited for incorporation into several applications, including the manufacturing of Guangzhou embroidered tiny ornaments, cultural and creative products, do-it-yourself kits, as well as the partial integration into the manufacture of everyday objects such as clothing, bags, and other commodities. This aligns with the purchasing preferences of the younger demographic. The operational prototype of an AI-based drawing design system has the potential to offer novel insights for the advancement of Guangzhou embroidery. Additionally, it serves as a valuable exemplar for the integration of artificial intelligence with traditional craftsmanship.

Eco-behaviour or environmentally responsible behaviour during tourism is vital to reduce the negative environmental impact of the global tourism industry. With this intention, in thehope that intervention technology such as gamification which is the use of game design elements in non-game contexts is proposed in tackling this issue. In many areas, gamification has been used as a motivational pull in achieving desired goals/behaviour. These qualities relate to the initiators of motivation; purpose, autonomy and mastery. Therefore, the capabilities of game in causing a change in human behaviour go beyond its intended purpose of fun. As people are familiar with the usage of technology, infusing gamification to improve motivation for eco-behaviour may reap favourable results. Yet there has been lacking research in the effectiveness of gamification and the model to understand the influences. For that reason, this paper presents the development of gamification for eco-behaviour model deriving from the Norm Activation Theory in predicting eco-behaviour. It also recognises the cultural background as a possible moderating variable that could influence the effect of gamification design towards the desired outcome. This paper arrived at the possible proposed model to understand how gamification design elements and cultural background might influence in fostering tourists’ motivation of eco-behaviour of the diverse multicultural Malaysia.

Within the context of cultural globalization, contemporary Chinese design needs to be particularly clear about three things: the cultural context on which it shall be based, the perspective from which it understands target groups, and the path by which it finds and solves problems. From the perspective of oriental design, the construction of contemporary Chinese design must be based on Chinese culture and take it as the cultural standpoint. It also must uphold the aesthetic perspective and experience of oriental aesthetics. Moreover, it must always maintain a dialectical attitude of learning and understanding towards different cultures, perspectives and techniques, and learn from each other's strengths so that Chinese design can truly meet the material and spiritual needs of the audience in the form of “things”. By comparing and analyzing the basic standpoints and perspectives of Oriental aesthetics, this study discusses the current boundary problems of Chinese design. By examining the characteristics of Oriental design that bases its standpoints and ideas on Chinese aesthetics, it explores the development direction and trends of Chinese design. Through the analysis of oriental design and the construction of the boundary of Chinese design, it strives to further establish the cultural confidence of Chinese design and locates the sound development of Chinese design in the future.
