The International Journal of Design Science is an international academic journal on design, co-sponsored by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Oriental Design Group, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is the journal of the International Society for Design Science, focusing on the science of design and the design of science. All manuscripts are anonymously reviewed by the editorial board and peers. The journal's International Standard Serial Number is ISSN: 2789-3804 (Online), ISSN: 2789-3790 (Print). It is published online, and the paper version is also published and distributed domestically and internationally by China Book Import and Export Corporation, Shanghai Branch. The journal is published quarterly. The editorial offices are located in Hong Kong and Shanghai, China.

The journal is included in the "Shanghai Jiao Tong University Innovative Design First-class Discipline Cluster Construction Program”. It aspires to become an authoritative peer-reviewed journal in the field of design science that is based on an East-West perspective, transcends the boundaries between natural sciences and humanities and social sciences, and has a high academic reputation and international influence. In addition to architecture, cities, landscapes, and other built environments as the object of design science research, the focus is on the core elements of design science as proposed in the Shanghai Declaration on Design Science, "Design 5.0".
